BACKGROUND. Four years in the making, Annisokay have finally shared the concluding chapter of the Abyss series. Starting all the way back in November 2021 with the premiere of 'Time', the mezmerizing tale span across many seasons, from massive standalone singles to fantastic EP drops, everything coming to its highly anticilated climax with the complete 15-track, full-lenght release of The Abyss - The Final Chapter. As predictable and logical as brilliant and faultless, the complete edition serves as the perfect way to end an engaging and eventful cycle, both for the band and its current lineup, and the wider metalcore scene in general.

BAND. Nothing more to say that I haven't already mentioned in all previous reviews of Aurora (2021), Abyss Pt I (2023) and Abyss Pt II (2025), all monumental releases that shaped their respective years immensely. Annisokay are seasoned trendsetters, and have been for more than a decade, holding a leading position at the forefront of the modern European melodic metalcore scene. Determined to stay there, this is a band that matures and flourishes exponentially with each consecutive single, EP and LP premiere, and don't appear to be slowing down any time soon. The complete Abyss is just another proof of all that, and a statement of Annisokay's past legacy, present stature and future significance.

ALBUM. We have spent countless hours listening to each separate singles and EPs to be even remotely close to surprised from this record, but there is also beauty in consistency and when done the right way, a new arrangement can bring the entire material to a whole new light and context. From the purposeful delivery of the doomy and prophetic Part I, through the decisive and explosive recent singles, all the way to the melancholic, post-apocalyptic feel of Part II, The Abyss as a whole is an exemplary modern metalcore record, coming as close to pure musical perfection as you can get, and a cautious tale of desolation and recovery worth telling.

SONGS. Fifteen outstanding individual musical pieces, grouped together for an even more powerful impact and message. The cinematic opener 'Into the Abyss', leading to the monumental 'Human'; the dramatic 'Ultraviolet' and stomping 'Throne of the Sunset'; the pulsating 'Calamity' melting into the iconic 'Time'; the latest trinity of the solemn 'Silen Anchor', anthemic 'Splinters' and relentless 'My Effigy'; the thunderous 'Get Your Shit Together' paving the way to the furious 'Never Enough'; the atmospheric 'Oblivion' slowing down the tempo for the melancholic 'Into The Gray'; the exemplary collab with Any Given Day on 'H.A.T.E.' and ultimately, the climactic finale 'Inner Sanctum' echoing the opening lyrics and giving the tale its solemn conclusion.

FUTURE. Somehow, this feels like the end of something huge and crucial, a process that started in what feels like ages ago with Aurora and finally sees its triumphant resolution. A story of loss and love, destruction and hope, death and survivical, hatred and unity, The Abyss is the soundtrack to our hectic contemporary life, as polarised and colourful as it is, with all its daily ups and downs. A snaphot of time, blending past mistakes, events already set in motion, and everything that is yet to happen, in a flurry of metalcore mastery and alt-metal excellence worthy of the Annisokay brand and leaving us eagerly anticipitating their next opus.
