BACKGROUND. No point in beating around the bush, Bury Tomorrow are a standalone institution in the UK metal scene, built from the ground up with blood, sweat and tears. Ever so consistent, reliable and driven, the Southampton heavyhitters have been on a steady release schedule since their debut, and like clockwork return with an eight official blistering dose of their signature metalcore fury. Masterfuly building over the unbreakable foundation that is their stellar discography, and fuelled by an examplary promo cycle of its five brilliant promo singles, their latest LP Will You Haunt Me, With That Same Patience is absolutely everything one could expect from Bury Tomorrow in 2025.
BAND. Steadily approaching their twentieth anniversary as an active band, Bury Tomorrow have absolutely nothing left to prove, navigating the particularly volatile and dynamic metalcore scene with remarkable regularity and resilience. From those envigorating early days of Portraits (2009) and The Union Of Crowns (2012), through the bolder and louder Runes (2014) and Earthbound (2016), to the mature and focused Black Flame (2018) and Cannibal (2020), and all the way to the new beginning with The Seventh Sun (2023), there hasn't been a Bury Tomorrow release that did not leave a lasting mark on the scene, WYHMWTSP destined with the same generation-defining role like its predecessors.
ALBUM. At this point, it should be extremely clear what to expect from such record - huge anthemic choruses, ferocious vocal tirades, relentless drumming, pulsating riffage, tight producion, no more, no less, and this is already more than enough. It is the Bury Tomorrow way we know and love, and the guys delivered yet again without hesitation. There might have been a short time when certain lineup changes seemed like the end of the road but it really turned out to be an exciting new chapter, with WYHMWTSP its second installment, seemingly reinvigorating the band's ability and desire to compose, play and mosh like they are just getting started. The album is fresh and diverse, surprising and predictable in perfectly balanced measured for a brilliant modern metalcore offering.
SONGS. For a full year, we were taken on a wild Bury Tomorrow ride with five solid metal ragers, each revealing key parts of the album and adding depth and variety - 'Villain Arc' leading the way with that trademarked high octane primal energy, 'What If I Burn' and 'Let Go' expanding the scope with those massive sing-along choruses, 'Waiting' and 'Forever The Night' adding the final melodic touches. All this is backed with six more relentless modern metal classics, from the more envigorating 'To Dream, To Forget', 'Wasteland' and straight-up infuriated 'Yokai', to the gentle 'Found No Thone', 'Silence Isn't Helping Us' and fittingly melancholic finale 'Paradox', every piece finding its intended place and purpose.
FUTURE. The Winter-Bates bros remain at their absolute top form, joined by the entire coherent crew and giving us an eight record as purposeful and energetic as the first, a rare and welcome sight. Will You Haunt Me, With That Same Patience echoes the charm and passion of Bury Tomorrow's early days while confidently looking towards an active future for years to come. If we are to judge by the present, there will certainly be a ninth full-lenght album by them, and probably just as iconic and influential as all the gems presented to us by one of UK's most prolific modern metal act.
