BACKGROUND. Disarmingly faultless as always, Connecticut cult heroes Currents make a surprising yet powerful return with their latest EP All That Follows. With more than two years since their brilliant The Death We Seek (2023) and a solid Summer single teaser, new music was naturally on its way, but noone really expected a full 5-track Halloween drop. And although we are always hungry for more, sometimes you have to appreciate a good, rounded, and punching EP, especially from such seasoned heavyhitter, once again proving unable to release anything weak or hesitant.

BAND. Not the usual story, for various reasons Currents have gradually replaced all founding members, with noone from the original 2011 lineup remaining at present. And yet, with no disrespect to everyone before, for almost a decade the band has kept a relatively consistent core, first presented as one of the promising acts of the future with their outstanding debut LP The Place I Feel Safest (2017), and then meticulously cemented amongst the key contemporary heavyhitters with their following albums. This is the Currents we know and love, and the one that have now given us yet another modern metalcore classic.

EP. The release at hand is pretty much the highlights of a brilliant and complete record, without all unnecessary album fillers and interludes. Tight, punching and focused, it is Currents through and through, from the djenty guitats and intricate ornamentations to the soul-clenching vocal delivery and pin-point drumming. All That Follows remains right at the heart of the band's comfort zone, balancing experimentation and accessibility to perfection, withouth being neither too overcomplicated and progressive, nor too mainstream or diluted. A perfect equillibrium of raw power and gentle melodies, delivered with imposing deliberation.

SONGS. Twenty minutes of pure, unfiltered metalcore excellence, all starting with the well-known belter 'It Only Gets Darker' to set the tone with a blast. From there, it really does get darker, 'My Severence' drilling deeper into bouncy, djenty territories and 'Making Circles' expanding the reach with its soaring chorus and pulsating riffage. At the end, 'Can't Turn Back' hits even harder, flirting with certain deathcore tropes and finishing off with a devastating breakdown, before the second single 'Rise & Fall' puts the EP to well-earned rest with an infectious sing-along hook and fitting pit-starting conclusion.

FUTURE. Surely a full-lenght album is on its way but for now, the EP will do. It is more than we could have hoped for towards the end of 2025, and certainly raise
