Focus: Climate Change, Environmental Protection, Animal Welfare

Region: Planet Earth

Genres: Metalcore, Alternative Metal, Modern Metal

Tracks: 20

Runtime: 1 hr 31 min

Special playlist dedicated to the amazing Music Declares - an independent group of musicians, industry professionals and organisations, who believe in "the power of music to promote the necessary cultural changes to create a greener, fairer, better future". The collection celebrates all those metal bands that use their platform to promote environmental protection, climate crisis awareness and animal welfare, and are not afraid to scream that there can be No Music On A Dead Planet!

Officially, Earth Day is observed on the 22nd of April, but I would like to dedicate the entire month in supporting and promoting the fantastic work done by Music Declares on one side, and all the bands featured on the other. In reality, Earth Day should be every day and we are pass the point of tolerating ignorance, complacency and indifference. Read about the organisation and their campaigns, sign up, and support them with anything you can. Follow the bands and celebrate those who are brave enough take actions and lead by example.

Most of the artists featured here have long been associated with planet preservation, and few have dedicated their entire career in raising awareness to various urgent issues. In recent years they have all stepped up and done everything possible to help our planet and civilisation go through one of the biggest crisis in our shared history. From reducing carbon footprint in distribution, and planting trees in desolate areas, to supporting idigenous communities endangered areas preserve their lands, and promoting organisations such as Sea Shepherd, or just screaming in the face of the apocalypse.

"There's fire in the sky, you're in the Amazon. The greatest miracle is burning to the ground"

Gojira - 'Amazonia'

"What will you tell your children when they ask you "What went wrong?" How can you paint a picture of a paradise lost to eyes that know only a wasteland? How will you justify watching the world die?"

Parkway Drive - 'Dark Days'

"You wanna make your Hell a reality? Black lungs for the young if they dare to breathe"

Architects - 'Black Lungs'

"We're digging graves for the unborn, begging on our knees biting the hand that feeds!"

In Hearts Wake - '2033'

"Rejoice in masses, the tribe collapses. The mother weeps in her dying breath"

Fit For An Autopsy - 'Black Mammoth'

This is by no means exhaustive of everyone that has taken steps towards the right direction, but is a personal tribute to the bands that have influenced me to take the right steps, read more and do whatever I can to help and support those at the front. The playlist is short and somewhat bittersweet, but so is our time to make the right changes. This is not meant just for entertainment, but as a call to action.

Listen carefully and take part of everything you can!
