I started this whole journey because of that shared love for modern heavy music, be it metal, rock, punk, alternative, or anything inbetween. Putting aside writing reviews, shouting about new releases, making playlists, or just general blabbering, that passion ultimately comes from discovering, promoting, and enjoying new artists from all over the world. Nowadays, it is as easy to come across new bands, check their music and interact with the musicians, as it is difficult for them to actually stand out from the crowd. I strongly feel it might just be my main purpose as some sort of music blog, as small as it is at this stage, to give platform to those who made an impression. For the unsigned, the unsung, the unseen, or to quote Parkway Drive, "viva the underdogs"!
I will sail to the unknown shores of modern metal and rock, starting from the misty seas around Europe and slowly moving towards more distant lands. There will never be enough time to highlight everyone I come across, and promote everyone I feel deserves more attention, but I promise to do my best and shout out about as many bands and artists as possible. If these rising outfits find their music and stories across my pages, it means that they left a mark on me, and ultimately I would like more people to hear what they have to say, sing and shout.
These days it is hard to say which band is "big" and which one isn't, so I won't be defining any strict parameters for featuring bands in this section. As a general rule, I will look for bands that are not signed to any labels (definitely not the big ones), do not have a huge online following already and are relatively new to their local scenes. I will also be looking to get to know the bands a bit more, at this early stage only through interview questions or video chats, and hopefully moving towards in-person hangouts around gigs in the future.
So without further ado, let's set sail towards these 'Unknown Shores', and see where this journey takes us. So far I am planning to make a stop in Germany, Bulgaria, Italy, France, and Wales. Looking forward to meeting more of you, and hoping to help anyone along the way with whatever I can. Stay tuned!
