BAND. When Wage War dropped IT CALLS ME BY NAME, I could not have predicted that just half a year later, the EP will be followed by one of 2026's blockbuster releases. The Florida quintet are more than familiar with dropping huge essential chart-topper, just as they are no strangers to scrutiny and backclash. Gone are the days of Blueprints (2015) and Deadweight (2017), and through the experimentations, evolution and achievements of Manic (2021) and Stigma (2024), Wage War seem to have finally found their true selves with Landfall.

REVIEW. If there was ever an album to wear the label "predictable" as the ultimate compliment, it is Landfall. There is absolutely nothing new, groundbreaking or shocking about it but there lies its pure, unfiltered strenght. It is 100% Wage War, just better across the entire board, and hitting the sweet spot between bulldozing high testosterone pit-starters and cheesy, vulnerable radio anthems. Landfall has it all and does it all with the ease, flair and determination of a band in its disarming prime.

SONGS. Like a proper blockbuster, Landfall follows a theatrical direction, polished to perfection. The album kicks off with the furious title track, alongside 'Sweet Dreams' and the latest rager 'Silk', before moving to the much more fluid and pulsating 'Figure 8' and 'God Complex' as the culmination of the first act. Few moment of well placed breathers and then we're back in action with the stomping 'Way Of Pain' and 'R3D DOT', as well as the familiar anthems 'Blindfold' and 'Song Of The Swarm' making their way back between the dramatic 'Spellbound' and fittingly epic conclusion in 'Silhuette'.

OVERALL. Landfall ranks very high at Wage War's discography and that is already saying something. Old fans will probably find something to whine about, and new ones might find certain parts a bit too much, and this is precisely what makes it such a great and noteworthy album, for as long as people both love and hate a band (and not just one extreme), they are playing the game right.
