BAND. Deep into 2026, I doubt there is anyone connected to the modern metal scene and wider alternative world in general who doesn't know who The Plot In You are. Led by the ridiculously talented and omniptesent force of nature that is Landon Tewers, what started as his side project now returns with a sixth official studio album. Finally conluding the captivating cycle which took four years to deliver, the self-titled The Plot In You is their magnum opus worthy of its bold name, spectacular build-up, and immence importance.
REVIEW. It has been five years since the release of the somewhat divisive yet stunning Swan Song (2021), a period filled with frequent releases and annual EP drops that now blend into the beautiful picture that is The Plot In You. Hardly a surprise, the LP embraces the sound, atmosphere and themes explored throughout the Volumes, reflecting them through the prism of a concise and purposeful collection of proven heavyhitters, instant scene anthems and intimate confessions, all carrying the unmissable TPIY brand.
SONGS. Two iconic high hats and 'Divide' kicks in, the track that started it all in 2022, now serving as the album's justified opener and natural centrepiece. From there, the LP follows the four individual chapters, split by the uncontainable ragers 'Forgotten', 'Don't Look Away', 'Spare Me' and 'You Get One' dictating the tempo, with the modern alt bangers 'Left Behind', 'Been Here Before', 'Pretend' and 'Carved', alternating with the passionate teerjerkers like 'Closure', 'All That I Can Give' and 'Silence'. All faultless in design, execution and arrangement.
OVERALL. The Plot In You is a masterclass in modern metal songwriting, production and marketing. Crafted and delivered with perfect timing, striking precision and meticulous attention to detail, the four EPs together mark the band's deliberate journey from underground cult heroes to global metal trailblazers. Add in Tewers' countless solo drops, killer collabs and production credits, and we are easily looking at one of the main driving forces behind the contemporary alt scene.
